Meet Misty Tuttle: Horizon’s Operations Extraordinaire

In our last ‘get to know Horizon’ installment, you were introduced to Pat Myers. This time, we’re thrilled to help you get to know one of our leading ladies at Horizon: Misty Tuttle. Misty has been a core member of our team for over a decade, and has held positions such as Video Services Manager and Sales and Marketing Manager during her time with us. Today, we’re proud to call Misty our General Manager of Business Operations.

We recently sat down with Misty to talk shop about how she came to Horizon, what she loves about the work and beyond.

Can you tell us about your role at Horizon?

Misty Tuttle (MT): As the General Manager of Business Operations of our ILEC (incumbent local exchange carrier) division, I oversee our customer care, level 1 technical support, marketing, regulatory and public relations teams. Our team is focused on delivering an amazing customer experience to every Horizon customer. We also work directly with community stakeholders to keep Horizon involved in government, civic and non-profit groups that promote and support the well-being of Chillicothe and Ross County.

Tell us about your background and how you came to Horizon.

MT: My career at Horizon began in 2000 in the Horizon View Video group. It was exciting because we were launching DSL Internet and video service over the existing copper infrastructure that supported the ILEC market. From there, my position evolved into a product and business development role as we rolled out advanced features to meet the needs of our customers in the ever-changing technology front. Over the years, I assumed leadership of the Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, Customer Care, Level 1 Technical Support, Horizon’s Small/Medium Business, and Residential product lines.

What do you most enjoy about working for Horizon?

MT: I continually say that Horizon feels like home, and that the team feels like a family. Horizon fosters a collaborative environment where we work toward shared goals. Horizon’s heritage of community service is something that brings me enjoyment and pride, and I love that Horizon has been serving and supporting the communities of Ross County and surrounding areas for over 125 years.

Any recent exciting projects at Horizon that you can tell us about?

MT: The Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project is an exciting time for all of us at Horizon. What it means for the communities we serve is a real game-changer. High-speed, highly reliable internet service is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity. Our FTTH is delivering that new standard of internet to customers across a growing footprint.

In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic proved that a work-from-home model works. People can work for large corporations across the country and live in the rural areas they love. Horizon’s Fiber to the Home product is helping people make this a long-term reality.

Where do you live?

PM: I am a Chillicothe native, which leads to my strong desire to work hard for Horizon’s continued growth. A strong Horizon means so much to the communities we serve.

Where did you go to school or get training?

PM: I am a graduate of Ohio University and have been blessed with a number of great mentors throughout my career.

Tell us what you like to do in your free time.

PM: I serve on several area boards with amazing people who all share a vision of prosperity, growth, and economic vitality for this region of Ohio. I spend many hours fundraising for these groups and promoting their vision throughout the region.
